First of all let’s try to understand grooming routine for men.
What is a Grooming Routine for Men:

What does a daily routine mean? Following our daily activities from the moment you get up in the morning to going to bed. The same applies to a grooming routine. However, it may take 45 minutes to an hour of your time.
The thing is you don’t need to spend more time than that. Many people thought grooming may take more time than that, but that’s not true. They say so due to they don’t follow a grooming routine.
Why Men Need Grooming Routine:
As hinted briefly in the above paragraph, you need to follow a grooming routine for two reasons. The first reason is for a better physical appearance. The second reason is to reduce the time one spends on grooming.
Grooming is a long-term process, because our body goes through a lot of wear and tear. Millions of cells are born and die in a single day. Our hair and beard grow, and our fingernails grow as well. To overcome this and look good every day, we need to groom.
What to do if a long term process need to be effortless, you need to make it as a routine. That’s the reason we need to develop a grooming routine.
Benefits of Having a Grooming Routine:
The actual grooming routine can save you a lot of time and effort. Like I said many thought grooming is a time taken process which is actually true. So, and it also take some effort.
Effort means selecting grooming products that works for you. Developing a grooming routine can reduce your time and effort in this area. It will ease the grooming process by following a routine.
Grooming Routine Based on Frequency:
We can differentiate grooming routine based on the frequency of grooming. For example, there are certain grooming tips you need to follow on a daily basis. Others should be followed on a weekly and monthly basis.
This differentiation makes your grooming routine even more effortless. So, let’s look at them in detail.
Grooming Routine on a Daily Basis:
This includes daily routine activities like bathing, brushing, flossing, moisturizing, sunscreen application, serum application etc.
This might seem as a surprise for you, everyday tasks like brushing, flossing are a part of a grooming routine. The primary task of grooming includes oral hygiene. So the above mentioned tasks come under grooming routine.
Daily Grooming Routine:
Every grooming routine starts in the shower, bathing, exfoliating etc, are part of grooming routine.
These are the tasks that you do on a daily basis:
- Start of your day with brushing your teeth.
- Then comes bathing, shower with a body wash or a soap that you find it works for you.
- Then comes washing your face with a face wash or a cleanser. Again select a product that works for you.
- After that applying face serum, you need to be careful while selecting face serum. There are a different serums for different skin problems. You can know more about selecting face serums here.
- When it gets sinked in to the skin, go ahead and moisture your skin.

This is the morning routine that you’ll need to follow on a daily basis.
Eventually, you go to work. After you return from work, you need to prepare for a night grooming routine. It consists of almost similar things that I mentioned above.
But out of all moisturizing is the key aspect that you need to do before going to sleep.
If you have any skin problem like acne, pigmentation etc, you need to apply face serum.
Moisturizing helps rejuvenate your skin. It reduces dryness and gives a smooth texture to the skin. It also improves elasticity and helps to reduce wrinkles.
The other important thing to do after moisturizing is flossing. Flossing is as important as brushing. When you eat something, food gets stuck between the teeth. To remove these, you need to floss. So, floss before going to bed for a healthier teeth
This is the grooming routine you need to follow on a daily basis.
Grooming Routine on a Weekly Basis:
In this we’re gonna talk about the things you need to do on a weekly basis. This includes Exfoliation, cutting your nails, maintaining beard, haircut.
Exfoliation is the most important part of grooming routine, everyday number of cells die on our skin. When not exfoliated forms a layer of dead skin cells, to remove these cells we need to exfoliate.
There a number of products used to exfoliate like brushes, pumice stone, silicone scrubs. These products contain rough surface when glided through skin removes dead skin cells.
After the dead skin cells are removed, your skin becomes soft and fresh. So, exfoliate atleast 2 times a week for better results.
We’ll talk about complete exfoliation guide in a separate blog post.
Trimming Nails:
Taking care of your nails and perodically trimming with a nail trimmer can be beneficial for you in many ways. A good nail hygiene is a must for a better health. If not taken care properly, the dirt accumulated on nails may act as a den to bacteria.
So, periodically cutting nails is a primary part of a grooming routine. So, how many times do we need to cut our nails. You need to cut your nails for every 1-2 weeks.
It also depends on the amount of dirt accumulated between the finger nails. So, a best frequency is for every 10 days. I personally trim my fingernails once in 2 weeks, so trim them accordingly.
Maintaining Beard or Facial Hair:
Facial hair maintainence is the one of the best grooming technique to look good especially face. Your face can look thin or bulky if you shape them in a certain way.
If you trim your facial hair when you not allow it to grow too long and wider around the cheeks. It gives illusion of thin face. Basically, you need to trim or shave your facial hair for every 15 days.
After that facial hair starts to look irregular.
Haircut:
Needless to say haircut is the most important grooming routine, you need to do a haircut for every 21 days. Hair determines your face shape. If you just maintain good hair and beard you’ll look attractive.
Because hair has the ability to change the face shape by tweaking it in many ways. So, getting a haircut every 21 days is a good thing. After that split ends tend to come and it may not help in a healthy hair growth.
Conclusion:
This is about grooming routine. We talked about grooming routine based on frequency. It includes daily and weekly routines and some other related to grooming. We also learned why we need a grooming routine.
With this blog post I need to stress that grooming routine is good for overall appearance of whole body. Don’t excuse yourself by saying you don’t have time. You’ll spend hours scrolling through your mobiles. Yet, you complain about not having time to groom.
